Our late Queen Elizabeth II appointed Southampton with Lord Mayor's status in 2022. The Lord Mayor's Reception room depicts the status with it's historic artefacts and Coat of Arms, displayed within the room. For this reason, no other changes or embellishments can be made, so the room is ready at all times for all ceremonial functions.

Location

Found in the heart of the city, the Civic Centre is one of the most iconic buildings Southampton has to offer.

Completed in the 1930’s, the Lord Mayor's Reception Room sits beautifully within the Civic Centre on the first floor with views across the city from the large picture window. Once inside, a set of impressive stairs lead to a balcony view before entering the reception room through magnificent oak doors, surrounded by marble sculptures.

All these unique features will make a stunning backdrop for your photographs. However, it will be the beauty of the Lord Mayor’s Reception Room that will really impress you. Recently renovated, the room is decorated in deep blue furnishings with a ceremonial crested carpet, lavish lights, panelled walls with various works of art and items of mayoral memorabilia on display.

There are many practical reasons to choose the Lord Mayor's Reception Room for your ceremony such as good parking and central city location as well as accessible access via the Gateway entrance and a lift to the first floor.
