About the awards
The awards will take place on Thursday 13 March 2025. The closing date for nominations is on Friday 28 February 2025.
Southampton City Council are delighted to host the Southampton Young Carer Awards. These unique awards will celebrate the city’s wonderful Young Carers and give them a chance to shine.
The award winners will be chosen from nominations submitted before the closing date.
The awards given are for:
- Resilience - For a young carer who has shown exceptional strength and perseverance despite challenging circumstances
- Leadership – Recognising a young carer who has demonstrated leadership within their family, community, or among their peers
- Achievement – For a young carer who has excelled in academics, sports, arts, or other personal goals while managing their caregiving responsibilities
- Community Spirit – Recognizing a young carer who actively contributes to their local community or supports other young carers
- Creative Talent – For a young carer who shines in areas like art, music, writing, or other creative pursuits
- Friendship and Support – Recognizing a young carer who goes out of their way to support, uplift, and encourage their peers
- Personal Growth – Celebrating someone who has demonstrated outstanding personal development and growth over the past year
- Positive Attitude – For someone who maintains a positive outlook and motivates those around them, even in difficult situations
- Young Carer Champions – For someone who has gone out of their way to support a young carer

How to nominate a young carer
- Choose the category for which you want to nominate your chosen Young Carer
- Read the category judging criteria carefully
- Write an account of no more than 300 words saying why the Young Carer should be considered
- Please make sure that the name of the nominee or entrant, and the award category is included on all separate pieces of supporting information
- Fill in the online booking form below by Friday 28 February 2025
Rules for entry
- The awards are open to young carers in Southampton
- All entries are treated confidentially
- Entries will be judged by a panel of reputable, independent and impartial adjudicators
- Online entries only
- All finalists will be invited to attend the awards where the category winners will be announced
