Media enquiries
All media enquiries should be put in writing to communications@southampton.gov.uk.
You can contact the duty media officer to flag your enquiry on 023 8083 2000. Please note that this telephone number is for legitimate media enquiries only. All other calls will be redirected through the council’s switchboard.
The duty media officer will endeavour to get a response to reporters as quickly as possible, or will pass the enquiry on to the service for a response as appropriate.
If you need further information about a news release you have received from us, call the officer named on the release (or the media line, as above) who will be happy to help.
Major incidents and emergency out of hours cover
In an emergency outside of normal working hours, the duty media officer can be contacted through the council’s Emergency Duty Team on 023 8023 3344.
It must be stressed that this is an emergency response number only and should not be used as an out of hours contact.
