Voi e-scooters reach 2 million rides in Southampton
Two million rides in Southampton save carbon equivalent of 51 million smart phone charges
Voi e-scooters have been operating in the city since March 2021, with just over 90,000 people signed up to ride them.
According to Voi’s externally validated carbon calculator, trips on e-scooters in Southampton have replaced an estimated 825,000 car journeys and estimated a saving of more than 420 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions - that's over 51 million smart phone charges!
In data from a recent rider survey in Southampton, 37% of riders used e-scooters for their commute to work or education, with 16% using them for errands and shopping.
Over 1/2 of riders combine their rides with public transport! Voi has just started operating rental e-bikes in the city, as well as e-scooters, after Solent Transport awarded the company a contract to be sole operator in south Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
