Voi e-scooters reach 2 million rides in Southampton

Two million rides in Southampton save carbon equivalent of 51 million smart phone charges

Voi e-scooters have been operating in the city since March 2021, with just over 90,000 people signed up to ride them.

Woman on scooterAccording to Voi’s externally validated carbon calculator, trips on e-scooters in Southampton have replaced an estimated 825,000 car journeys and estimated a saving of more than 420 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions - that's over 51 million smart phone charges!

In data from a recent rider survey in Southampton, 37% of riders used e-scooters for their commute to work or education, with 16% using them for errands and shopping.

Over 1/2 of riders combine their rides with public transport! Voi has just started operating rental e-bikes in the city, as well as e-scooters, after Solent Transport awarded the company a contract to be sole operator in south Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
