Funding Secured for Holyrood from the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme
Significant Funding secured to enhance the energy efficiency of the Holyrood Estate.
We are delighted to announce that we have successfully secured funding of £468,191 from the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) for the Holyrood Estate District Heating Scheme.
HNES, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, this funding is for heat network owners and operators in all sectors looking to improve the efficiency of their underperforming heat networks.
This significant investment for the Holyrood estate will enable us to enhance the energy efficiency, help residents stay warmer for less and contribute reducing carbon emissions in the region.
The HNES, a government initiative aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing heat network costs, has recognised the council's commitment to sustainability and the importance of increasing energy efficiency.
The funding will go towards upgrading the heat network’s pipework and heat exchangers, replacing the old Heat Interface Units (HIUs) for more efficient equipment. This will allow the network to operate at lower and more efficient temperatures, reducing the natural gas needed to operate the network and provide heat to homes across the Holyrood Estate.
