Family Hub Announces Dadzclub Launch
Supporting Dads and male carers through parenthood
Dadzclub is a supportive community of fathers and male carers that from 16 September will be hosting sessions at Family Hubs across the city. These sessions will enable fathers and male carers to connect, learn and share their experiences of parenthood.
Dadzclub is committed to exploring the multifaceted journey of fatherhood, encompassing both its exhilarating highs and its challenging lows. With a strong emphasis on community-building, this unique support service is dedicated to fostering a network of like-minded fathers and male carers, both online and through engaging face-to-face interactions.
Set to unfold at multiple Family Hubs throughout Southampton, Dadzclub has a clear vision of bringing together paternal figures and their children. Through dynamic and imaginative weekend sessions, Dadzclub aims to create an environment where fathers can not only chat with fellow dads but also forge deeper connections with their children.
Central to Dadzclub's ethos is the promotion of quality time and meaningful conversations within the context of fatherhood. Recognising the importance of a support system for fathers navigating the complexities of parenthood, Dadzclub will regularly host peer-led support sessions.
Matthew Foster, Founder and CEO of Dadzclub, shares, “We're thrilled to introduce a safe and welcoming space where fathers can share their experiences and create lasting memories with their children. Our engaging weekend groups are the heart and soul of Dadzclub and are designed to offer not only fun activities but also an opportunity for dads to learn, share and connect with others. We know that strong fathers are not just present, they are mentally present and that is why our Dadzchat sessions bring dads together to break the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health in fathers and support their emotional well-being during this transformative journey. Because when fathers thrive, families flourish."
Councillor Lorna Fielker, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Housing at Southampton City Council, said “This is an excellent initiative for dads and male carers in Southampton. Having a space to share experiences and problems with other dads or male carers is unique and important. I am excited to see how this will develop into a community in Southampton."
Dan Buckle, Integrated Head of Early help and Prevention said, “We are delighted that Dadzclub has joined Family Hubs as a commissioned service. Fathers and male carers are always welcome to attend Family Hub sessions and events, but Dadzclub will offer service dedicated to them and their journey through parenthood. Paternal figures often have very different experiences to maternal figures, and it is vital we are able to support them and their families."
