Consultation open on new transport plans for Civic Centre Junction
Southampton City Council is inviting people who live and visit Southampton to give their views on proposed transport plans to Civic Centre Junction via a consultation
The Civic Centre Road junction with Havelock Road in Southampton City Centre is a key network location with large, signalised junction. The proposed improvements will provide:
- Improved connectivity for people walking and cycling from Southampton Central Station into the City Centre
- Improved connectivity for people walking and cycling from Southampton Central Station to St Mary’s stadium
- Improved ease of use and safety for people walking and cycling across the whole junction
- Enhanced bus priority and improved traffic flows with the installation of upgraded smart signal technology
The transport plans form part of the Council’s ambitious Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) programme, which focuses on transforming gateways into the City Centre and creating a greener, more inviting environment for everyone living, working, studying, and spending time there. From major junction improvements such as the Northern Ring Road and Civic Centre Junction to new public realm such as East Park Terrace and Albion Place, the plans cover a large part of the City Centre and aim to safely connect people to our historic landmarks, museums, and leisure facilities.
The survey is open until 27 November.
