Returning Officer for Southampton publishes notice of by-election for Bitterne Ward
Following the notice of a vacancy arising from the death of Mr Terry Streets in Bitterne Ward, the Returning Officer has received a letter from two electors requesting the vacancy to be filled. This must now be progressed by law
Today the Returning Officer has published a notice of election for Bitterne Ward. It is the Returning Officer's intention to hold the poll on Thursday 1 December 2022. Following the election, the successful candidate will serve the remaining term created by the vacancy until May 2023.
Voting will only take place in Bitterne ward.
Nomination papers may be obtained from the office of the Returning Officer at the Civic Centre, Southampton. Nominations close at 4.00pm on Friday 4 November 2022. More information can be found on our Candidates and Agents page.
Registered electors in Bitterne ward will receive poll cards shortly with further details:
- White poll cards will be issued to electors who have requested to vote in a polling station
- Yellow poll cards will be issued to electors who have requested to vote by post
