Support for rough sleepers in Southampton during August heatwave
We have activated our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) to provide support to people who are sleeping rough during the current heatwave
Regular water drops, sun cream and sun hats are being provided to rough sleepers during outreach sessions.
Rough sleepers are encouraged to access the Two Saints Day Centre (open Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm) which provides a cool indoor space with cold drinks and food, as well as water and sunscreen to take away.
The day centre also offers shower and laundry facilities. Outside of these hours, No 10 Southampton Street and the Booth Centre have additional water and sun cream which can be accessed as required.
Anyone who is concerned about someone sleeping rough can contact Streetlink, a 24/7 website, or call 0300 500 0914 to send out an alert about the location of someone sleeping rough. Streetlink will then pass on the information to the Southampton outreach team who will assess the circumstances.
