We the undersigned petition the council to Petition: Enough is Enough—Solve the SO14 Parking Crisis Immediately
The parking situation in the SO14 area has reached breaking point. Residents are exhausted, frustrated, and fed up with the council’s inaction on this long-standing issue. Every day, we face impossible challenges finding parking, endure sleepless nights trying to secure spaces, and are unfairly penalized with exorbitant fines.
This is no longer an inconvenience—it’s a crisis that affects our mental well-being, family life, and finances. We have had enough of the council ignoring our needs while allowing this problem to escalate.
We demand immediate and decisive action to address this issue:
1. Increase parking capacity now: Allocate more spaces for residents, and stop prioritizing commercial or commuter vehicles over the people who live here.
2. Utilize underused spaces: Open up existing car parks and review idle land to create additional parking solutions that are accessible and affordable for residents.

The Problem
The parking crisis in SO14 is out of control. Residents face
constant stress, wasted hours searching for spaces, unfair fines,
and poor communication from the council.
What We Demand
1. More Resident Parking:
• Allocate additional spaces exclusively for residents.
• Open underused car parks during peak hours.
2. Stop Predatory Fines:
• Enforce a grace period before issuing tickets.
• Suspend fines in areas where parking is insufficient.
3. A Real Plan:
• Develop and share a long-term parking strategy with resident
input.
• Reinvest parking revenue into local infrastructure.
Why It Matters
This crisis impacts mental health, finances, and quality of
life. Residents deserve better. We demand immediate action from
