Purpose:

To consider the report of the Director of Public Health seeking approval of the Southampton Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2012-15.  The Health and Social Care Act requires Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups to produce a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and for the Local Authority to publish the Strategy.  A draft strategy was developed by the Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board which was subject to wide ranging engagement and consultation.  The Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board will produce a final draft for the consideration of Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group and the Council.  

Decision:

(i)  That the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy be adopted

(ii)  That authority be delegated to the Director of Public Health, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Communities to make any minor drafting or other amendments required following consideration of the strategy by Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group.

Reasons for the decision:

To complete the process of producing a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Southampton.

Alternative options considered:

None.  It is a duty under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to produce a Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
