Purpose:
To consider the report of the Cabinet Member
for Housing and Adult Care seeking the approval of the Southampton
City Council Housing Strategy 2016-2025.
Decision:
To consider and approve the Southampton City Council Housing Strategy 2016-2025 (Appendix 1).
Reasons for the decision:
To ensure that the Council has a clear, accessible and transparent strategy that articulates its vision and priorities for housing in the city over the next 9 years.
To ensure that all teams and service areas across the Council that contribute to the outcomes have a single vision, and that all housing activity is aligned to the agreed outcomes.
Alternative options considered:
An option is not to publish a strategy – this is not recommended as it is important for the Council to provide a clear and accessible statement of intent to its staff, residents and stakeholders.
