To consider a report of the Head of Highways and Parking Services detailing unresolved objections to the proposals to extend the Coxford Residents’ Parking Scheme into the Warren Crescent area as part of the formal legal process of consultation with regard to Traffic Regulation Orders.
That Cabinet confirmed the proposals to extend the Coxford area Residents’s Parking scheme in Warren Crescent, Warren Avenue, Chestnut Road, Sycamore Road, Holland Place, Stokes Road and Bracken Lane, set out within the report , be approved without amendment
(i) That the original proposals advertised had been amended in the light of public representation. That the objection set out within report was given due consideration. However, Cabinet felt that the view of the officers set out in paragraph 11 of the report outweighed the objection especially in the light of the fact that the proposals align with both Central Government and Council policy in promoting sustainable travel and deterring commuter parking in residential areas
(i) Any other parking restrictions would equally apply to residents and non-residents and would not be of benefit to or supported by the community.
(ii) Although the roads could remain unrestricted it would not address the resident concerns over the level of commuter parking. In rejecting this option we are also mindful that many of these roads are also affected by parking related to the “school run”.
