To consider the report of the Cabinet Member for Housing, seeking approval to decommission Erskine Court and redevelop the scheme under the Estate Regeneration Programme.
Erskine Court is a supported housing complex in Lordshill that contains a large number of flats where the residents have to share bathrooms. The Council considers that this is no longer suitable accommodation for older residents many of whom have care and support needs and has looked at options for the future of the scheme. As a result a proposal is to be brought forward to re-house the residents in more appropriate accommodation to then close and redevelop the scheme under the Estate Regeneration Programme. Consultation is currently underway with the residents and a report will be brought to Cabinet with recommendations in November. The Council is keen to seek a swift decision to remove any uncertainty the residents may be suffering over their future.
Erskine Court comprises of 33 units of accommodation of which 16 have shared bathing facilities. Currently 21 units have residents living in them with the remaining 12 being void.
