Schools Deficit Budgets 2013/14

To consider the report of the Interim Head of Education seeking approval for the Cabinet Member to set a deficit budget for those schools who have requested to set one.  The Southampton Scheme for Financing Schools, made in accordance with the Schools Standards & Framework Act 1998, makes provision for schools to set deficit budgets in accordance with Department for Education rules.  As part of the Southampton Scheme, schools must request Cabinet Member approval to set a deficit budget.

Slippage/Variations/Reason for Withdrawal: A review of school budgets has now been completed. Accordingly it can be confirm that there will be no school budget deficit requests for financial year 2013-14 and we therefore no longer require approval from Cabinet
