Decision details

Portswood Residents Gardens Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Report of the Executive Director of Environment and Transport concerning the adoption of the above Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan, and to authorise the use of the policies contained within the Management Plan to guide future development proposals in the Conservation Area.

Decision:

(i)  To delegate authority to the head of Planning and Sustainability following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport to finalise and adopt the Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAAMP), and to agree that the policies contained within the Management Plan will guide future development proposals in the Conservation Area.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable the Council to manage change inside the Conservation Area within a clear framework.

Alternative options considered:

Not to adopt the CAAMP.  This would result in a significant loss of good will built up with the Residents over the last year, and would result in additional strains on resources, as the Council is obliged to review the existing Appraisal in any event.
