Guaranteed interview scheme
Southampton City Council is committed to enhancing employment opportunities for the armed forces community, care leavers, looked after children and those with a disability. One way of doing this is through our guaranteed interview scheme.
We offer all applicants who meet the qualifying criteria for one of the specified categories an interview if they meet the minimum criteria for the role.
Qualifying criteria
The qualifying criteria to be considered under one of our guaranteed interview schemes are:
Disabled: In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, a disabled person is defined as an individual with a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities. This category includes individuals with physical disabilities, mental health conditions, sensory impairments, learning disabilities, and other health conditions.
Armed Forces Community: This category includes serving personnel, veterans, and their families. It encompasses individuals who are currently serving in the armed forces, those who have previously served, as well as their spouses, partners, and children.
Care Leaver: This category includes young people who have left local authority care, up to the age of 25.
Looked After Child: This category comprises children who are in foster care, residential care, or other forms of care provided by the local authority.
