Struggling to pay your household bills?

If you’re experiencing money worries because of the coronavirus lockdown, don’t worry – there is support available to help you.

Whether you’ve lost your job or can’t work because you or a family member is sick, read the latest advice to help you get to grips with your bills and manage your money.

Utility bills

If you’re struggling to pay your utility bills like water, gas, electric and Council Tax it’s best to talk to your provider as soon as possible. You may be eligible to receive Council Tax Support or a discretionary payment.

Southern Water has a range of different payment support schemes and tariffs for people struggling to pay their water bills.

Rent

If you’re experiencing money worries and can’t pay your rent at this time check our rent payments during COVID-19 webpage to find out about the support available during this difficult time.

Can’t get out to top up a pre-paid electric meter?

The Government and energy suppliers have agreed emergency measures to help prepayment customers including posting cards loaded with emergency credit to those who are self-isolating, adding discretionary credit to your meter, and allowing you to nominate someone to top up for you. Contact your energy supplier for more details.
