Residents in Lordswood make an impact

Neighbours in Linford Crescent rolled up their sleeves recently to join council staff for a day of community action, resulting in a transformation of the local area

Residents were invited to join in litter picks and lend a hand with gardening during the Linford Crescent Impact Day, while various council teams got to work cleaning, making repairs, improving the bin areas, and cutting back bushes. Other council teams were on hand to chat with residents and provide useful information ranging from what to recycle and how to get involved with the tenant engagement team. Free refreshments were available to everyone who got involved.

The event was organised by local Neighbourhood Wardens Taryn and Philip to bring the community together and make a lasting difference to the neighbourhood. Taryn is delighted it was such a success, telling us: “The Impact Day took a lot of organising to bring together different council teams to focus on one neighbourhood for one day, but the result was definitely worth it. It was great to see local people get involved, in fact one elderly resident commented on the day about how nice to was to see people working outside together. We’ve had lots of positive feedback about the great sense of community spirit shown on the day, and the whole area has been given a real face lift. We aimed to make an impact and I believe we did just that!”

Sahrae, a tenant who has lived in the neighbourhood for 30 years remarked that she “has never seen the area looking so open and clear”.
