A meeting of Itchen Estate Tenants and Residents Association

New voices for 2023

Congratulations to our newest Tenants Associations - the Itchen Estate Tenants and Residents Association and 46 Roundhill Community Voice in Townhill Park

In Itchen, residents have come together to represent people living in Wharncliffe, Tankerville and Defender Road as well as Hill Street and the surrounding area.

And over in Townhill Park, the members of 46 Roundhill Community Voice say they are looking forward to building community spirit and working with the council on the ongoing building safety improvements to the block.

Stacey Corbin, one of eight local residents who have volunteered to sit on the newly formed committee in Townhill Park, told us: “We have come together to represent our neighbours and raise local issues on behalf of our community; from traffic and speed limits, to fire safety. As a committee, we also hope to make improvements to the communal garden spaces and will act as a point of communication with the council to ensure tenants are kept informed and consulted as work is carried out in the block. We’re here to benefit the block and would like to encourage all residents to get involved.”

If the residents at Roundhill Close and Itchen have inspired you and your neighbours to form a Tenants Association in your local area, we can help. Our Tenant Engagement Team can provide support to help you establish a formal group.

There are lots of benefits to setting up a tenants’ association. As well as helping to ensure your block or street is represented, a formal group provides a link with the council and a point of contact and communication. Plus, tenants’ associations can even apply for funding to support community projects that benefit local residents. Many tenants’ associations across the city have received grants from the council, the National Lottery, and other sources to fund things like communal gardens and community activities.

To find out if there is a tenants’ association in your local area, or for help and support to establish one, please email or call our Tenant Engagement Team on 023 8083 3185.
