Can you fix it? Yes, you can!
Many of the calls we receive about heating problems could be easily fixed at home without the need for a visit from one of our trade staff. We’ve listed below some of our top tips for common heating issues that are simple to sort by yourself. So, read on for some useful advice on quick fixes that could save the hassle, expense and inconvenience of waiting for a repair job.
If all your radiators are cold, it probably means your boiler’s thermostat or timer is incorrectly set or faulty. Simply check and reset your boiler. If you are on the district heating system, you can use your thermostat to change the time and temperature for your heating. Check our online guide for how to set up to six time and temperature periods a day to suit your lifestyle needs.
If just one single radiator is cold, it might mean the radiator’s manual control valve is turned off. Simply open or turn on the valve to restore heat. Another reason could be the thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) is incorrectly set. Simply reset it. Watch this useful online video to see how. If that doesn’t work you’ll need to report this repair to us as the TRV may be faulty.
If you think your boiler has broken down and you have no heating or hot water, please get in touch and report this as an emergency repair.
