Email is the most popular way of communicating. With smartphones and tablets, it’s quick and easy to send your friends and contacts an email. This two week course shows you how to set up an email account, add photos and attachments to your messages and lots more.

Avoiding online scams

Love the internet but worried about scams? This course will help you spot those pesky internet scams to avoid you becoming their next victim.

Getting to grips with Teams

Microsoft Teams is a great platform to join online meetings run by the council. Come along and discover how to link up, share documents and much more besides.

Finding your way around the council's website

We will show you where to find all that useful information on the council’s website, including how to report a repair, find out the latest news in Tenants’ Link and lots more besides.

Committee skills

As a group of volunteers, a committee can achieve great things, but working as a team isn’t always easy. This course will look at the different roles of the committee enabling you to achieve more!

Minute taking

Taking the official record of a meeting can be a daunting experience – but it really needn’t be! Minutes are important as a record of what’s been decided and who is going to do what. Come along and find out how simple they can be.

Chairing skills

Meetings are a great way to share ideas and get everyone’s views but trying to enable to allow everyone to have their say is easier said than done. This course will give you the skills to successfully run a meeting and stay in control!

Accessing funding

Tenant Associations and other constituted community groups can apply to organisations for money for trips, equipment and events to improve their area. This course looks at some of the grants available and how to improve your chances of being successful

Making a complaint

Sometimes, when managing 16,000 homes things don’t always go as smoothly as we’d like and things can fall through the cracks. And should something go wrong you have the right to raise things as a formal complaint. Find out about how the council’s complaint process works, how to raise them and how the council can learn from them too.

How your rent is spent

An opportunity to learn how your rent money is managed and spent. We also look into how changes in government policy can have a big impact on the amount of money available to spend on services.

The council is required to provide lots of performance information to residents so they can see how well we are performing. This session will give you a better understanding of performance information and how this can lead to tenants getting better services.

Asking the right questions is key to helping you hold the council to account. This fun and informal training course will give you the skills to ask those tricky and probing questions.

Challenging the stigma of council housing

Sometimes people make assumptions about people living in council housing, and, sadly, those assumptions can be quite unpleasant and nowhere near the truth. Following their in depth report, the Tenant Inspectors are keen to share with you hints and tips about how this stigma can be tackled!
