Getting rid of mould

If you deal with the root of the condensation, you should be able to sort out mould.

• Wipe down walls and window frames with a fungicidal wash. Take all necessary precautions recommended by the manufacturer
• Dry-clean affected clothes and shampoo carpets. Take care; disturbing mould by brushing or vacuum cleaning can make it airborne and increase the risk of respiratory problems
• After treating the walls and window frames, redecorate using good quality fungicidal paint to help prevent mould recurring. Note: that this paint will not work if you then cover it with ordinary paint or wallpaper

The only lasting way of avoiding severe mould is to get rid of the cause of the dampness. If you do this and follow the other advice the mould should not grow back again.
