Purpose

The purpose of the WhatsApp tenants engagement community is to provide an informal communications channel amongst SCC residents and is intended as a convenient way to distribute information quickly and efficiently. It has been set up in a spirit of informal communication amongst a group of people sharing the same common interest.

Guidelines

By participating in this WhatsApp community, you agree to these group guidelines:

  • Participation is not compulsory and if you join, you have the option of leaving. We would hope that all participants can see the usefulness of the group and will cooperative accordingly
  • The group is only for tenant engagement related issues
  • Messages posted on the WhatsApp tenant engagement community should be supportive and respectful of all other group users
  • Please refrain from commenting or sharing content that could be interpreted as inappropriate, upsetting or offensive
  • Don’t ask for or share sensitive or personal information such as e-mail or physical addresses
  • Only send messages to members you know, those who’ve contacted you first or asked you to contact them
  • No one is under an obligation to chat or respond to questions posed
  • Do not contact any member who asks you to stop messaging them
  • WhatsApp and all SCC social media should not be used to log complaints
  • Respect the confidentiality of anything posted on the group and avoid mentioning names and other details in your own posts if there is any risk that these could cause upset
  • Links to other online information posted in WhatsApp messages should only be made to sites which are relevant to tenant engagement matters. Links and other requests should not be posted if they relate to commercial services or personal appeals or illegal content
  • Members are encouraged to use WhatsApp Safety & Privacy features
  • Each community will have administrators. Community members should alert admins to negative behaviour that breaks the community’s rules. Administrators do not work 24/7 but will look to respond within a maximum of two working days
  • In the event that there is a breach of these guidelines, the community administrators reserve the right to remove members from the group
  • Information held on/sent via this WhatsApp community may be subject to Freedom of Information request if it relates to the public authority’s official business
