Venturefest South unveils Battle of the Pitches longlist of businesses competing for prize
The event’s judging team has selected 15 of the South’s top innovators to showcase their creative business proposals in the first stage of the Battle of the Pitches contest.
The five finalists from this list will pitch live at #VFS22: Festival of Innovation on 17 November in a bid to win a £10k boost to develop their businesses further.
Businesses including Maverick Aviation Ltd, The Portsmouth Distillery Co, Human Beauty and Labl.it have been selected for the longlist. Their pitches are available now to watch.
Ed Gould, Event Director, said: “We’re delighted to announce the longlist of entries for the Battle of The Pitches, chosen from nearly 60 submissions which were all of a very high standard.
“It was a difficult task to select the longlist but we’re excited to provide some of these businesses with a brilliant opportunity to pitch in front of the region's leading organisations and investors. Who knows where it could take them – the sky’s the limit!”
Paul Foley, Director at innovation funding specialist Catax, which specialises in R&D tax credit claims for businesses of all sizes, said: “We really can’t wait to judge the finalists. They’ve poured their heart and soul into these ideas. R&D, prototyping and testing all consume enormous amounts of energy, time and money. This is exactly the sort of prize that has helped many a business to take its innovations to the next stage on the road to runaway commercial success.”
