Planning granted for 600 apartments in Southampton

Southampton City Council have granted planning permission for a major property development and conversion of a vacant Debenhams store. The development will comprise three blocks housing in excess of 600 residential properties.

Plans include provision for 598 apartments, including one, two and three bed units, nine townhouses and a 108-space car park in addition to public realm spaces.

Developer National Regional Property Group claim the project will bring meaningful change to the city centre.

The properties will alter the city sky line though construction of a 17 storey apartment block on the site of a former Debenhams store.

The new development will house approx' 1,000 people, on the site of the former retail giant which ceased trading in 2020.

The project must still secure final planning permission from the head of Southampton Council's planning department. Upon completion it will become one of the tallest buildings in the city.
