Census 2021
What is the census?
The census is undertaken every 10 years and is a survey that gives the most accurate estimate of people and households in England and Wales. The information provided helps decide how important local services are planned and funded. These include things like schools, doctors’ surgeries, hospitals, libraries and bus routes.
The census asks questions about individuals and households and how we live. No other survey gives as much information about our society and future needs.
About Census 2021
The next census will be undertaken by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and is planned for March 2021. Early in 2021 households will be asked to fill in a census questionnaire. It’s important that everyone takes part and this year the aim is to get as many people as possible to complete their questionnaire online. Most households will receive a letter through the post with a unique access code to the questionnaire on the census website.
More information on Census 2021 can be found on the Census and Office for National Statistics websites
Census Jobs
ONS will be hiring people in a range of temporary roles to make Census 2021 a success. If you’re interested, more information on these roles is available on the Census Jobs website.
