DSL CPD Sessions
We will be holding Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for the city's DSL’s.
These will be held in person and will be based around key themes going on in the city. These sessions will entail scenarios and discussion based problem solving with your colleagues from across the city.
This will also be a great networking opportunity and a chance to raise any questions that you may have relating to these issues for further discussion.
The sessions are free of charge.

Children’s Resource Service – Conversation Model Session for DSL’s ONLY
10 December 2024, 13.30 – 14.30, Virtual Session via Teams
Children’s Resource Service are offering a session for DSL’s specifically to hear more about the launch of the Conversation Model. The launch date for this model is 21 January 2025.
This model encourages dynamic and rich conversations between professionals and families in order to ensure families are receiving the right help, at the right time and from the right person. The model is relational in nature and moves us away from online forms and written referrals encouraging us all to engage with each other to try to understand a family’s needs and how best they can be supported. The CRS will still be documenting these conversations on our system, agreeing a plan in the conversation with the referrer and following up at the conclusion of our involvement with written feedback.
This model is already in place in many other Local Authorities who report back positive experiences with partner agencies and families. Although it is recognised initially the number of contacts to the front door does rise with the implementation of this model, some findings in other areas are that overall referrals are decreasing and earlier interventions are taking place appropriately with families.
With the upcoming implementation of the model we foresee a more effective service for families and establishing even better working relationships with our partner agencies. To help us with the implementation and development of this model over the next few months we will be looking to you, our colleagues and partner agencies, to give us feedback, ideas and views for us to take into consideration before our ‘go live’ date.
Please use booking link below to attend this virtual session for DSL’s only to find out more, ask any questions you may have and provide your feedback. We look forward to seeing you there!
