Engaging with early years and childcare providers

Why is it important?

Early years and childcare providers in Southampton regularly perform observations of children's development, especially if they have daily contact with parents. Providers will identify next steps for development and a plan to support them. Every child will have a 'learning journey', which will be contributed to by both the child's key worker and their parents.

Childcare providers are required to complete a developmental check between the ages of two and two-and-a-half years of age. It is expected that this will be shared alongside the health visitor's check at the same age.
