Early Years Development Workers
The Early Years and Childcare Development Team offer a wide range of support. This is available for all early years and childcare providers (including wrap around childcare). They also offer support for prospective providers.
This includes:
- Advice and guidance around new provision
- Registration processes
- Signposting to appropriate training
- Preparation for Ofsted registration
- Post-registration support
The team ensure that good quality childcare provision is available to parents. In the event of a setting closing, they also help providers to support parents and staff. They can help find alternative provision and where possible, ensure a smooth transition.
For registered provisions, they offer support visits, training and guidance around quality provision. The team aim to keep providers up to date with:
- National and local policies and procedures
- Statutory requirements
- New initiatives.
The team will work with you to develop and maintain a quality provision. They will provide extra support for any provider graded less than good by Ofsted.

Providers may request, or be identified, as requiring more specific support. This may be due to change in management or senior staff, a critical incident or a less than good Ofsted grading. In this case, providers can pay for support and bespoke training from the Early Years & Childcare Team. View details of training and support charges.
